Sneaky Palpathief - Huzzah Hobbies Store Showdown Winner

This is the undefeated winning version of Sunny's Yellow Palpatine deck played at the Huzzah Hobbies store showdown on 6/15/2024.

I classify this as a "Counter-Tempo" Ramp deck, contrary to the traditional Soft/Hard Control builds we see in the set 1 meta. Ideally with each move, you will be aiming to "steal" tempo away from your opponent as you get closer to your own endgame scenarios. Change of Heart is the key driving card for Yellow Palpatine, but the additional card pool of yellow also offers value trading potential, tempo disruption, and damage pings that synergize with Palpatine on the whole.

The matchups played in Huzzah Hobbies' showdown featured a very aggro heavy field. I played against 6 aggro decks in total, with two wins against Boba Yellow and three wins against Sabine Yellow (including the finals). My event match record was 7-0 and 14-1 in games.

Over 5 events through the Spark of Rebellion store showdown season May-June 2024, I garnered an overall match record of 27-3 with Yellow Palpatine: three 1st place finishes and two 3rd place finishes.

I iterated upon the deck with specific meta call card choices for every event in both main and side. The deck has a lot of flexibility to fine tune to your given meta and siding strategies can be varied based on your approach.
